Aqua Taxis - The easy way to get along the Costa del Sol I was in sunny Fuengirola today and I noticed the people from Malaga Hoy, the local newspaper and TV channel. There was a rather stunning lady with a camera crew filming a boat. On closer inspection (I was being nosey) I was told the boat was the very first water taxi and part of a new water taxi service for the Costa del Sol called "Aqua Taxis" I read in the Malaga Hoy the following: Launch of new Water Taxi Service, Costa del Sol, Málaga to Marbella in 45 minutes, no traffic! Launch Date - 01/03/2011 Location ? Puerto Marina Benalmádena Each water taxi has the capacity to take 12 passengers and two crew members. Plans to connect Málaga to Gibraltar by the end of 2011 stopping at all the ports in between, and reach out to the eastern Costa del Sol (Nerja, Almuñecar) in the medium term. Homeport will be at the new Málaga harbour, strategically placed at the crossroads of Pier 1 & 2, catching cruise line passengers to promote the Costa del Sol in its entirety. Local businesses to benefit from Cruise line passenger traffic. Full support of Malaga Port Authorities. Aqua taxis will be operational year round, sea conditions permitting.
